BARROW MOTOR ABILITY TEST

Purpose: To measure the motor ability for purpose of classification guidance and achievement.

Level & gender: College men, junior senior high school boys.

1. Standing broad jump

1. Leg explosive power

2. Soft ball throw

2. Muscular strength speed

3. Zig zag run

4. Wall pass

4. Eye and hand coordination

5. Medicine ball put

5. Shoulder explosive power

6. 60-yard dash

1. Standing Broad Jump

Purpose: To measure the athletic power of the legs in jumping forward.

Level & gender: Age 10-18 yards boys &girls.

Course and Marking:

Either mat or floor may be used for the test marking material is needed for the starting line along with a tape measure to mark off increment of distance along the standing area.

Description:

2. Soft Ball Throw

3. Zig-Zag Run

Course Marking:

Description:

This test requires the athlete to run a course in the shortest possible time. A standard zig-zag course is with four cones placed on the corners of a rectangle 10 by 16 feet, with one more cone placed in the center. If the cones are labeled 1 to 4 around the rectangle going along the longer side first, and the center cone is C, the test begins at 1, then to C, 2, 3, C, 4, then back to 1.

4. Wall Pass

Purpose: To measure eye and hand coordination .

Equipment: Regulation basketball, stopwatch.

Description:

If he should loss control of the ball, he must retrieve it and return to the starting line and continue passing.

5. Six Pound Medicine Ball Put

Purpose: To measure shoulder explosive power.

Equipment: Space 90*25 and tape for measuring .

Description:

6. 60 Yard Dash

Purpose: To measure speed.
